hello everyone...have tire track that likes frozen blood worms an seems that is all he will take... is there any way to get him off frozen blood worms an on to something less expensive?

thanks...mike

I just picked up a tt eel (6" then) a month ago and all mine wants is frozen bloodworms also. I think in my case I just need to focus on getting him grown up a bit more and then pellets would be easier to start him on.

Subbed so I can get the magic answer, too!

If you are looking for a cheaper method you can always go digging in your back yard or in the woods for some earthworms it's one of my fire eels favorite foods and costs you nothing. Btw I don't think I have heard of spiny eels eating pellet foods. I could be wrong but I have never seen or heard of it myself.

I lucked out not too long ago when Petsmart had a clearance on their frozen foods. I got some Hikari frozen bloodworms for cheap! I grabbed 5 or 6 flatpacks of them! I'm still on the first one.

I'm going to try to get Ziggy switched over eventually.. maybe to tilapia. That would be better than only bloodworms!

Yeah I heard of other members feeding their spiny eels tilapia it's probably a good meaty food for them. If you don't Wana do the work to find the earthworms you can always just wait for a warm morning where it rains quite early. If you go out early enough you can catch the 100's of worms that crawl up to the concrete not to drown. So much free food!
