New tire track eels often do refuse food for the first couple weeks, but you will have more luck if you offer more appropriate foods, like worms (frozen or live) and/or shrimp/krill (preferably frozen). Tire track eels can be converted to pellet foods, but it is not easy to do and will take a while. It took me several months to get my old tire track to accept Hikari Cichlid Gold, which I did by soaking the pellets with its favorite food at the time (krill) and offering them, along with the krill, by hand every night.
On another note, be prepared to upgrade your tank size pretty soon. Your tire track is going to reach 20+ inches within the next 2 years, and it will eventually need a 180 gallon aquarium (preferably larger).
