I recenty bought a 4 inch tire track eel and I put him in my ten gal growout/quarantine tank with four adult guppies and he ate all of them in 2 day! Let's hope he leaves the baby channel catfish alone, it's to big for him to eat right now...

Tire track eels are predatory by nature. It's not surprising that it ate your guppies however it is the channel catfish that will eat your tire track eel.

I know they're preds I just was surprised that an eel that small could eat adult guppies and the catfish will be moved into one of my bigger tanks once it hits five inches. By the way, what'd the difference between M. Armatus and M. Favus?

im surprised to hear that too. ive had guppies in my tt tank for a while now and not even my 9 inchers will eat them. i added the guppies one day when i couldnt get blackworms or ghost shrimp and so far i have a growing school of guppies. that musta been one hungry boy. one of my tt eels doubled in size from about 4 to 8 inches in about 6 weeks though so that guy might be following in the footsteps of mine

mine is around 7 inch. he used to b so crazy n bold. takin down any thing. he killed a baby electric blue crayfish i threw in his tank. and takes rossies down like they werent even alive. but recently he got burned my the heater. he is healed up now. but he dnt act the same...its sad. but yeah they r badazzez and i love there personalitys.

Mine goes nutters for guppies. deffinately a fish eater. and yeah.. I'de be more worried about the cat eating the eel, then vise versa. though they can be pretty territorial i've noticed.
