i dont even know how much i've spent on books during college so far but im sure its well over $1500. today i went to sell back books from this semester and im so mad right now that if i expressed my true feelings on this forum i'm sure i'd get a ban. i tried to sell back 3 books, that i spent about $350 total on. my organic chem book, originally $130 used, they offered $60. georgraphy book, atlis and dvds (never used DVDs or atlis), originally $130 new, they offered $30. education book, originally paid $84 used, they offered $10. #$%ing rediculous!!! i still have a book from my computer class i had 2 years ago, still in the wrapper that they wouldn't even buy back.:irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked::irked:

Buy your books used. They're way cheaper and sometimes come with useful notes.

I bought 1 textbook this semester...the rest I have just borrowed from friends...

the only reason i bought the geography new was b/c if i bought the book, atlas, and dvds use separately, it would have been more expensive than the new book.

Here's a great site for book- www.bigwords.com
I get my books there- compares prices online for you and show the results. Got great deals on books using it. Also don't be afraid of international editions- just black and white instead of color picture and the paper quality is lower but for the most part they are the same as US editions just really cheap. I have used them with no problems for my engineering books.

Indeed! Amazon is your friend...

I'm pretty sure your school has a forum that has a buy and sell sub-forum where students sell whatever they want to sell.

I buy all of my books from www.half.com or www.amazon.com. You can find them way cheaper. Then, once you are finished, list them back up for sale at a slightly lower price than what you paid or slightly lower than other listed prices. You can usually get most of your money back.

Great advice. Buy your books at "Like New" condition on half.com, use them and keep them in good condition, and sell them back for slightly less than what you paid for them. Usually if you take good care of your books the condition will still be excellent enough to resell back easily

I do the same if I can't find one to borrow. I spent $750 my first quarter (the most expensive book was for the whole year though) and decided never again.
