I've bought 3 marineland emperor 350 filters in the past few months and all of them have broke on me. It randomly happens when I would turn the filter off while doing a water change. The filters just wouldnt come back on. I thought maybe something was clogging them but i've cleaned them before and they would start back up but for some reason they randomly kick the bucket. I dont get it. Are these filters just garbage? I made the switch to a fluval (use to be aquaclear) h.o.b.

Wow sorry you're having such a rough time, I do like the old aquaclears better, but honestly i've never experienced those kind of issues w marineland filters. All of mine seem to just keep going. Maybe you got a bad lot, were they all from same store ?

one of there lines i have no experience with they look cheap to me. I have and use their cans and diatom filters with no problems.
I recommend pulling the impellers out and cleaning because ive had AC's stick on me after disrupting the power.

Dang bud, Test the waters (no pun intended) with the Rena Filters Xp2 Xp3 Xp4 I have a 2 on a 30 gallon its great! and a 4 on a 125, I have recommended them to other people and they haven't been let down yet either, I would also suggest getting them from amazon, Cause that's where they seem to be the most affordable!

I prefer the Rena XP line but with that being said, I have a Magnum 350 that's been working for over 15 years with no issues. It's a power hog and doesn't have alot of media space, but it still works well. Pita to clean IMO.

Rena's are a maintenance breeze
