I understand the convenience of and ideas behind the new rules, but I do feel that the regulation of these rules is actually causing a bigger problem. Honestly, the constant closed threads, and complaints by moderators defeats the purpose of their effort to streamline things.

What about setting up a form that does not allow you to post unless all areas are filled in... Ex) a) Box for what the item is, b) a drop Box for Location, a drop down for Pick up or ship, c) a drop box for FS, FT, WTB, and d) a box for price. If not all filled in, the new thread will not post.

I think that this would help to prevent fewer closed threads, less confusion for the seller, and less frustration for buyers.

I most definitely approve of the way it SHOULD be done, i just don't know why more people don't follow it. It has been crammed down peoples throats and someone everyday will post an ad that just says an animal name and nothing else. So i think the "fill out a form" method would be excellent for the section.

Not too long ago they made a new rule. You had to include location and whether pick up and/or shipping was available. If you didnt include this your thread would be closed. They had problems in the past with people not being too specific and caused alot of inconvenience for people.

I know some people arent aware of this new rule, I was lucky I caught it so I know now how to make the thread proper so it doesnt get closed. But maybe a form would help everyone. Thing is, it might take longer and people may not like that.

I dont really mind it as i have always done it in that format , way to many threads have been clicked and only to find out the said item is across the D country.

i suggested the drop down box thing a LONG LONG time ago.

as for the current threads being locked, i dont have a problem with it. it has cleaned up the marketplace considerably and im GLAD the mods are staying on top of it. it was a disaster before. most that have their threads closed quickly realize the problem and fix it asap. no reason to get offended and complain about it. rules are rules, and these are for the better IMO

The "They" that voiced the complaints was numerous members. That's what caused the new rules to be implemented.
As far as people not knowing the new rules, they're listed at the top of the buy/sell forum, they're listed in the Announcements section, and they were emailed to all members in a newsletter. Not exactly trying to hide the rules from anyone.
The suggestion sounds like a good one. I'm sure it can be implemented if the software will allow it.

I'm not complaining about the rules. I like the idea, and think it would be nice to see them work, but there is obviously an issue with follow through on the sellers' part. I just thought that the fill in boxes would just help the uninformed and prevent a lot of mistakes. I just wanted to offer a possible solution and see what others thought...

I too made the suggestion of the drop down boxes a while ago, but was told it cannot happen because the software would cost too much. I really don't mind it much, as it has made surfing the marketplaqce a lot simpler. I have also made mistakes, and forgotten to add something in the title, and pm'd the mods about it, and the were more than happy to fix it for me. While the boxes would be great, we all have to remember that this is a free site, that probably cost a lot of $$ and time to maintain.
