Tiretrack eel died

Anyone have any ideas why my eel would just die. He was active, he liked to hang out on the suction cups for the filter pipes or heater. I woke up one morning and he was ghost white and dead on the bottom of the tank. I had him 2 weeks.

I have the following tankmates

pleco
3-4" oscar
4 - 3" A. cichlids
3" green terror

Tank set up

55g
xp2
300w heater
water at 80 degrees

Ive never had someone just die. i lose fish to becoming food but thats it. I kinda want another eel but im not sure if I did something wrong. any ideas?

I only saw him eat small small amounts a couple of times. before i went to bed i would put a little more food in for him as they are nocternal (sp?)

Sorry about your eel. I bought some peacock eels a few months ago and they only lived one day.. I have no idea what caused mine to die..
