Not an emergency, so I figured I’d post here.
I just got back from vacation, the first one I’ve taken since having fish. I was nervous since I had a heater malfunction just before leaving.
Anyway, came home and no losses while I was away. So happy.
But after a close inspection I see my boy Oliver has some strange tissue by his eye.

I couldn’t get the clearest pictures, but in person you can tell it’s just tissue.
What I don’t understand is how this happened. I’m inclined to leave it be and heal on its own. I’m just curious if anyone else has seen this happen before?

Could be lymphocystis. Watch and separate.

Oh I hope that’s not it:(
I’ll keep a close eye on him and see if there is any change.

I know my big female Greenie laid eggs right before I left and she can be pretty brutal when guarding. So I’m hoping that is just an injury from her being a jerk towards him.

Well, it’s been a few days and the tissue has gotten smaller. Still there, but almost half the size it was.
Oliver is still his spunky self too and let me take this close up. LolB92E5F05-0477-4C6B-80FC-EF248AFB7A74.jpeg
I’m really hopeful that this is all a good sign that the tissue was just from a fight and not an underline virus. But I’ll continue to watch him like a hawk to be sure.

I guess I missed updating this. The tissue completely went away after a while and everything has been fine.... till yesterday.
Obviously this didn’t happen overnight, but I didn’t notice it till yesterday.

I think your initial diagnosis is correct, because now it’s not just by his eye. I also noticed tissue by his right fin.

Nothing new has happened with his tank, but my big female is looking very full and eggy. My best guess is it’s being brought on by the stress of an up coming spawn.
If this continues to be brought on by spawning with my big female I fear I may need to remove her just to keep his stress down.

Doesn’t look it’s affecting the fish so that’s always a good thing. By the way those GTs look great.

Looks pretty minor, even if it is lympho I wouldn't be concerned unless it gets out of control. Good luck.

Thank you. It doesn’t bother him at all. He still sees fine, eats and acts normal.

Agreed, and thank you. I hope it doesn’t progress anymore then it has. But if it continues to show up in more areas each time then I’ll need to work on reducing his stress. Of all my fish he is the one most dear to me.
