I have a pair of blue acaras with a jag. The acaras have spawned before but was unsuccesfull eggs never hatched ièm thinking the jag may have had a part in this the acaras thinking its not safe. Now i was planning on moving the jag into a bigger tank. Now the twist the acaras are showing signs of breeding again cleaning the pot and digging moving and waving here tail really fast to move gravel out of the pot but i dont want to stress out the acaras incase that stops them from breeding. Now my question is shoulf i move the jag now or wait till after they lay eggs or once eggs hatch thanks. Extra info the jag is small only like 4-5 inches and the acaras fought her off last time.

IMO i would take the jag out now, will they fry are still eggs, meaning they are confined to one area. So the parents will not be as stressed. Otherwise the jag will pick them off anyway and stress the parents. So its worth a try now.

Just net her out. It'll be easier if you have two nets.

Thanks! I did manage to get the jag out yesterday :) But now she's getting picked on by a tiny 3" convict in the other tank :s

She will only be getting picked on because the convict has an established teritory and she doesn't. Try rearranging the tank and see if that sorts it.

They should sort out their differences. If not you could try adding some dithers. Ive had that work before.
