Hey everyone,

I just went out and purchased a 2 inch baby beani. I for the life of me can not find a profile page on these species. So i was wondering if i can get the Beani owners or ex beani owners to help me put together a Beani Profile from all that past experiences you have had with them.

Scientific Name:
Origin:
Size:
Temperature:
PH:
Common Names:
Attitude:
General Characteristics:
Aquarium Set-up:
Social Behaviors:
Feeding:
Compatibility:
Breeding:
Sexing:

Above are just a few things i could think of that would be in a cichlid profile. if there is anything please feel free to add a subject or line.

thanks this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the link! It has helped with the starting process of raising this baby beani....he eats like a maniac. He is doing very well so far. i will post pics soon...

I have a Beani, he is sharing the tank with a convict and a synadontis catfish. He killed one convict. I notice he is very active open water swimmer. He is very aggressive. Not shy. Good appettite when healthy. I have own Beani before and this tends to hold true on all of them that ive owned. However, I have never owned one past 7", so I am not able to share my experiences past 7".

Prone to Bloat. Be careful with the diet.

yeah i figured that out the hard way. ive lost 3 already but i had been successful at raising 3 to 4 inches so far with no issues. They are an awesome specimen and fantastic to watch grow. Goodluck to all with Beani's.

I have a group of 4 adults (3 female, 1 male Rio Tepic strain) and I'd say they get bigger than 10" pretty easily. My male is 9" right now and has room to grow. They haven't been as aggressive as I thought they would be but are no push overs. I also have some smaller 'Rio Panuco' coming up but I'm having a tough time with bloat.
