so im thinking about drilling my tank so i can get rid of all the intake tubes. i want to drill 2 in the bottom for intakes and 2 more intakes at the top. is there any benefit other than looks? has anyone eles done this with canister filters?

I have my 300 drilled and plumbed with canisters. Pretty much an aesthetic thing. I did it because the holes were already there.
Just keep in mind if you ever want to move that tank, holes WILL reduce its value in most resale cases. People dont like holes in things they want to hold water in!

Not really.
Many would look at a pre-drilled tank as a plus.
