Ok guys what is the best method cause I have heard a million different ways. Is it personal pref or is their some science to it. I am sure this has been talked about before. I would just like to see what some of the big boys have to say about it. Please let me know how you guys do it cause if I don't have to wait 2 hours it would be great!:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

if you want my answer you can call me if you like....:D

there is some science to it...its called "safe-acclimating".:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
i just dump my fish into the tank after floating the bags for like 10-20 minutes.
thats because all the water here in signapore is pretty much the same and i dont import fish...:ROFL:

to be honest i just float my fish for 10-15 mins and add a cup of my tank water, let it sit for another 5 mins then just net the fish out. never had an issue.

It depends on the fish being acclimated too. Some are more hardy than others, but I generally reserve drip acclimation to delicate marine species. You could always meet half way and put fish in a bucket and add a jar of aquarium water every 15 min for an hour. It's better than dumping right in but not as tedious as dripping.

I do something similar but I add water after letting em float for 20, and do this twice waiting 10 minutes after each time before doing anything else.

so:
20 min float
add tank water
let sit for 10
add tank water
let sit for 10
net fish out of bag.

if the parameters are drastically different (I'm talking mostly pH), it's best to slowly acclimate them. How slowly is more of a matter of personal opinion a/o preference...just dumping a little water in the bag at a time or dripping. Floating is fine if it's just a temperature difference as it won't take long for the water in the bag to come to equilibrium w/ the tank water (single bagged makes it faster).

if the pH is okay and the temp diff isn't much, there shouldn't be any problems just putting the fish right in the tank. That sort of depends on how sensitive the fish are to changes, too. I don't ever put water from the bag in the tank, though.

there's my $.02

I don't see why people think dripping is tedious. You just set the drip rate and let it go.

the way i see it, with all the money spent on the fish we aquire... i would not want to put it in my tank and all i see is the fish going into shock and my heart beating fast because of the money i spent..... thats why there is a safe and efficiant way of doing it called, DRIP ACCLIMATING...... for all that does not have patience try it and notice the difference of when you acclimate over your tank rather than dripping into your water parameters.... with all procedures of dripping done correctly, with all the necessary accessories of this method you will not stress your fish out...(heaters, airators, pwerhead & most of all, space) no matter how long it takes patience is a virtue for the fishes health in this hobby!!

MY EXPERIENCE with both methods.... acclimating with fish in bag: 15-30min doesnt matter... fish drops to floor and stay on the floor until it adapts to parameters... that right there says, STRESS!!!

DRIPP ACCLIMATING: 1hr or more doesnt matter... instant gratification when introduced into the tank.. fish is very active with full of personality and ready to explore its new surroundings!! that tight there says, finally i get to see what you look like and happy because you are mine forever!!!:D

hope you guys take this as good info.... and try it yourselves to notice the difference... and believe me it will be well worth the wait!!;)

so DRIPP ACCLIMATE IS MY 2pennys...

Mike is right on! I have done this method(drip) with all my fish and have had great results. We all spend a great deal on fish and I want to give them the best possible chance of making it. Most of these fish have just gone through a great deal of stress being transported and that I do believe plays a very big role in surviving. I will stick with the drip method , it just makes more sense to me. Just my 2

I just float the bags in the water, for awhile(20 minutes, doesn't matter really) and open the bag and put some water in, wait 10 minutes or so then do it again, then again if I want, then dump the fish out. All fish have lived doing this, can't be that much stress this way.
