Hi! I have six jack dempseys and 1 pleco right in a 10 gallon tank ( which will be moved up to at least a 55 by next week ). I feed them mostly flakes, and as a treat frozen blood worms. For my pleco, it is about 2 inches long and i drop in those round discs. I can never tell if he is eating them or not. But i dont think he does because the jds just bite at the discs and spit them out.

Now, i know that you are supposed to feed also fish veggies esp. to pleco and jds.
I was told romaine lettuce so i tried some. I was also told that I was to dip it into hot water? Im not sure about this. But anyways i drop a few pieces in and the float on the top!
So i drop some into the pathway of the filter which pushes the pieces of lettuce down. However, the fish come close to it, and then ignore it! What am i suposed to do to feed them their veggies?

Also, are there any alternative veggies? Ive alrdy tried carrots and they dont seem to work at all.

Those disks are algae wafers, and your pleco is probably eating them. If they aren't there in the morning someone is eating them. For veggies try cucumber and zucchinni, they are easy and readily available. Get a stainless steel screw and skewer the veggies and drop it in.

I am thinking that peas would probably work. Ive tried putting veggies under a rock and like me, they dont like it ;) my fish are pretty picky

what kind of peas? frozen ones? or fresh out of a pod?

I've found peas work best for plecos.
Peas are a good source, however they should not be a primary as they will foul the water faster than many other veggies. Also, remeber that with all species, variety is the spice of life. Don't feed it one thing, feed it a healthy variety of foods.

ask ur lfs for a veggie holder. i have one that has a clip with a sunction cup so u can put anything (specially veggies) on a certain place. :)
