Yesterday i noticed my tank has an ich infestation and my lap is showing signs of ich. I am going to use heat and salt to try to cure the tank. Im just wondering what is a good temp to set my tank at. Right now i have it holding at 87/88. Can they handle that temp for the duration of the treatment or should i back it off a bit.

What size tank is it and what sized heater? Mine did fine but i noticed it when there was only a few dots at first. I really like to try and do natural ways like salt and temp before using chemicals like QuiICK cure. But i think they will be fine. try not to pass 90 though

It should be fine. A little extra surface movement is a good idea just in case. The fish will tell you when it is too hot by not eating, gulping at the surface, breathing hard ect. When I kept africans they seemed to like the heat alot and didn't seem to mind one bit.

ive treated at 86 before with no issues, cant say for sure but if the fish dont seem stressed at 87/88 then I say keep it up. Better to handle the ich and have them warm up some than let the ich get out of control. Like bass fisher said if they start stressing its time to change things up. Make sure you have plenty of airation. Warmer tanks need more air the warmer they get

Thanks guys. I will leave it were it is for now. All the fish seem fine. Airation should b good i added an air stone and lowered the water abit from the filter returns.returnees

My tank is at 90 in the summer. As long as you have good aeration then they are fine.
