im in the process of buying either a 88g or a 70g. the 88g is a one off tank with a stand, filter,etc.... The 70g is made of 1/2 inch glass an is all by its self thats all i get is the tank the price difference is 130$ between the two the 88g being more but i dont know if i should keep the fish i have now my g/f wants flashy fish the "pretty" ones and i want ones that dont just eat every day fish food and i want to make her happy but my jack and my oscar that i have now r fighting and i had to divide them i hae a snail and a pleco so i dont own a lot of fish but she wants more and im thinking i can sell the jack and the o and buy new fish but i want fun fish for me and fish for her where can i find a happy in between for us? Help me out on the tank and the fish plz. Thank you!

P.S. The all of my fish right now r in a 10g but they r small so there is alot of room if i go bigger do u think the jack and the o wil stop fighting?

keep the jack and the o and get the bigger 88g tank. Then you can feed them nice pretty fish (guppies) ;) Everyone is a winner he he

yeah but see when i first just had the oscar i fed him pretty gold fish and she got attached to the last few and couldnt watch me feed him and now shes on this power trip of no more live fish for them to eat so u see my problem

and you see i dont have any problem letting them go cuz i know i wont be able to keep them there whole lives they will get to big for the 88g tank and im ok with that but if i have to get new fish i want like an eel or something along those lines i want something that eats worms or shrimp or something i can call my own and have it still be able to live a long life in the 88g and not have to worry about waking up the next day and have her fav angle fish or some thing have been eaten by my fish u see what i am saying

You can get them onto pellets, i got mine off feeders. Personally I would keep what makes you happy, after all it is your tank, however if you want a happy medium, I'm sure there are fish available of such, such as an EBJD. What tank you should go for, depends on what you want to raise, and personally I would go for the one that has a greater width, as it would better suit the O. As far as the jack and oscar together, it's a hit and miss, I have done it with no problems, but that's bc my jack isn't agressive.

Also an 88 would keep an oscar its whole life no problems, as long as its wide enough. However if you want an Eel, there are a few types out there that wouldn't mess with her fish.

well my thought is if i do put the jack in a bigger tank it wont be so mean but at that point its her fish and she wants to sell the jack because he is so mean. So im saying i have to get rid of my o because shes getting rid of her jack and what typ of fish would you recommend that could grow old in my 88g with no problems with other fish but still have a bit and as for it being my tank it is but i live in "her" house so i have to compermise somewhere and my fish i will gut my car i wont!

And as for a eel im not dead set on one i liked the pic of the one under the one of your fav fish the Senegal Bichir but i read they grow up to some hellish lenght! i just want something different that i havnt had befor something weird that eats worms or shrimp or whatever just something that dosent look like a normal fish i really wanted a arowana but they grow to big for my tank an i dont want to stress about haing to find another for awhile that **** gets expensive real quick

Off the top of my head, a tire track or fire eel would work, and tire tracks arent too hard to come by and should work in the 88 w/her fish as long as they arent really small.
Or would a possible compromise be she gets the ten gallon , which you could make planted, for her flashy fish such as guppys, kuhuli loaches, or neon tetras, or whatever and you get the 88?

lol i thought about that and she laughed in my face and said no but as for the eels dont they grow to be really big? and as much as i want a eel i think it would be best if i waited to make a saltwater tank to get one they r more colorfull i think
