I have 2 convicts in a 30g that pump out fry like there is no tomorrow. Got some columbian tetra to eat the fry but they are getting fat and lazy :/

If I swapped the tetra for a female belly crawler would it be a blood bath or maybe be ok?

I mean if you don't really care about the fry too much there's always leaving them with the parents and letting the parents either eat them or letting the older batch eat the younger batch
Happened with mine, my male decided to raise one batch and then also wanted to make another, so when he got his second batch on top of the other one the old one just picked off the new one
That went on 3 times until the female just stopped raising the fry after they became free swimming because I guess she knew what was going to happen, I was also pulling the older batch each time

as bad as it sounds convicts don't really care
and a 30 with good filtration can hold up a pair of convicts with a batch of offspring just fine
worst case scenario just get a couple sponge filters if you're concerned
assuming you have just trade strain nigrofasciata like in your profile picture and not something more sensitive like a small creek dwelling locale of the species

Would adding a small female belly crawler be to much for that tank? I have 2 aquaclear 70's on it, pretty over filtered.

i wouldn't say it would be too much, more like the convicts would demolish the cren. i had a decent sized compressiceps with a pair of cutteri once (couldn't catch him out so i left him with the cutteri) and while he did eat their fry the cutteri figured out what he was up to and were not happy
i moved him before he actually took damage but with the intelligence and parental instincts of convicts and convict types, i would not recommend putting something like a cren in to eat the fry

Nothing so dangerous as a guarding parent Convict. Just ask this poor Oscar. Was being kept to 1/4 of the tank till I divided it.
