Maybe less stressful for the fish (and me), but it only applies to fish that you can fit in a bucket...

Or net them with the net on the front glass and hold up a tape, but unless your gifted with a third hand, no picture taking;):D

I just put a ruler up to the glass at feeding time. They'll be in the foreground and perfectly aligned at some point during this. I can take pictures this way even without a third hand. Third leg, I've got, but only two hands.

That's how I measure, doesn't have to be exact, though remember always round up:grinno:

I dont really attempt to measure a fish. I think the only accurate way is to take them out and lay them down and measure. But I dont even do that because it seems risky and stressful on the fish. I mostly just guess size. I think I am pretty accurate with that too.

same here. or ill hold my fish up to the glass when their close and guesstimate from that. so far my severum is finger tip to right past my wrist" :D

i only measure my fish when im moving them from one tank to another, its very rare that i catch them to see how big they are, usually the bigger fish will damage their bodies trying to get away from your net and get pretty stressed out.

well I measure all my fish weekly and plot out their growth rate...

joking!

me too only measure when I move them. Just found out it's less stressful and just as accurate to measure in the bucket.
