Hey when you guys are feeding your rays do you feed till they stop? i'm guessing no as they will eat you out of a house and become ill from over feeding?.

just curious as to how much food i need to get in before new rays arrive for there 240gal home. :headbang2

thanks

Joe

They have small bellies and fast metabolism... Frequent feedings and large water changes are the best regimen..

Gotcha, understandible. im pretty anal on my water changes as it is. right now i do 30% every other day on my 240. :D

keep lots of shrimp nd earthworms. What types of rays are you getting?

Hey Mike, i have not totally decided yet, :screwy: ya i know.. i am ready to order but still unsure what exactly i want, and who to trust getting them from.. everyone i have been recommended to do not sell rays anymore. i do have a dist locally i can get from and am just waiting to hear back with a list of what they have.

just want a Trio. but want something nice! healthy active, 8-10" at least maybe even bigger.

i have the 240 for them. just need to get it together in my head and decide. just hate jumping the gun on something i may not be happy with so i like to see all of my options.

any thoughts?

thanks

Joe

I think motoros make great first time rays and are the easiest to care for IMO. Even after having them all almost I love motoros. get a nice looking pair or trio and they're great. Will get big just like any other ray too but a 240 which I think is 2 ft wide is definitely a start. There have been a lot of captive born motoros arould lately, I'd look into that or take a totally different route, its up to u, good luck

Motoros are for sure my first choice.

but it comes down to the trust factor with wholesalers and sponsors:nilly:

i would try to go to a lfs so I could pick them out myself and see the health of the animal. there's got to be some store near you that has motoros i would think.

On a side note how are you guys (once Acclimated) moveing your rays to there tank? when big i assume a net is out of the question but then again i asume a net is out of the question for any ray.

any tips? stinger? what stinger? :D
