A LFS near me has a nice 10" ruby scat in freshwater. I know these guys should be in BW and as adults in full marine, but this guy seems to do fine in FW giving the fact that he reached this size . If I decide to get it ( a big IF) , he will have ST and NGT dats, a tigrinus and a school of barbs as tankmates (in a 135 g for now)
What do you guys think ?

i know some scat live their full life in fw just fine ._. but i just wouldnt risk a scat with a dat considering dat aint cheap like scat, and considering how scat might take a dat's eye out if its being naughty.....

good point ....no scat for me

Someone could have traded in or dropped off the scat anyways, the LFS could have thrown it in FW when it used to be kept in brackish.

I thought of that too and I asked the guy how long they had the scat for. He said three weeks but that doesn't mean is true.
Never seen a scat that big in person, very cool fish ....but impulse buying is most of the time a bad idea .
