I have a pair of cons who I am thinking of separating, for multiple reasons. 1, The male is beating on the female and I'm not really sure how severe it is. He does no damage but chases her if she comes out of her hiding spot. 2. I have another pair of cons breeding already, I don't want even more fry.

Thoughts?

Giving the female of such a prolific species a break can never hurt. I routinely give my females a few weeks off every couple of months.

This would be a permanent separation.

Well, from my experience the females and males don't appear to suffer any detriment when separated. I would say go for it if you don't want them breeding anymore.

Agreed.... They will learn to deal. Separate them.

what size tank is the pair in now? what tank mates do they have? what are each of their sizes?
