I've had my ray for over a month now and I don't see it putting on weight. Its alone in a 55 gallon since she was really beat up when I bought her. I wanted to move her out after she plumped up a bit but I don't see a change. She's fed a homemade mix of smelt, tilapia, shrimp, carnivore pellets and freeze dried cubed black worms. she eats it, but it sure is messy.

From your pics the ray doesn't really look that skinny to me. I don't see hip bones. It has a decent size hump on the back and the tail looks like its thick. If its eating well it will continue to put on more weight as time goes on.

Ok, they are supposed to have that hump on the back? I thought that was what made her look so skinny in the middle. :-\ Apparently I am ignorant of what a ray is supposed to look like. :-)

The hump on the back is her fat reserve. When rays eat a lot their backs hump up like that.
