My 4x2x2 Fahaka tank is filtered by a single Fx5. Seems to not give as much current as I had hoped it would. I get a lot of settled poo on the bottom especially the corner under the out portsion of the filter. I have a couple ideas, one being adding another fx5 with less bio media and more filter pads to crisp the water up and putting the out on the opposite side of the tank. Second idea is a power head to add some current to keep things from settling, just have to find the right spot to put it.

I have another idea however. I want to add an in line heater to my tank, as well as maybe an in live UV sterilizer. These all seem to be 5/8in for their connections, where the fx5 is 1 inch. I already planned on changing out the stock hosing for some 1in vinyl tubing thats smooth to help gain a little flow, plus get rid of the flimsy fluval stock tubes. Now, on the out side of that I planned to hit a T fitting, and have the two outs from the T go down to 5/8in. I would run the two outs one to each side of the tank, adding hopefully two sources of current. In those 5/8in lines I could add a heater to one side, and UV to the other side taking care of all my issues.

What do you all think of this? 1 Fx5 ok for my 120, or would a 2nd be a better idea? Any and all suggestions or constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks!

My fahaka's tank has 2 AC 110s & an Eheim 2217 canister. I suggest adding 2 ACs to the mix. They are easier to dissemble for rinsing.

No room for HOBs on my setup. Its close to the wall. Plus Im not a fan of the look. The cleaner and more discreet the better. Although I know the AC110 is a fantastic addition to any tank. I got lucky and found a Fluval 404 on craigslist just now so gonna pick that up tomorrow. 120 bucks brand new, with two brand new power heads thrown in.

I still plan on splitting the output on the FX5 to both sides of the tank. Gonna move the two intakes about a foot from the out but to the bottom, should hopefully be able to create enough current with the two filters. Gonna throw an inline heater on the 404 since its the correct hose diameter, and maybe a UV down the line depending what happens.
