I have a 48x12x15 tropical tank containing java fern, anubias and amazon swords. During each water change I vacuum the sand but I would like to know if the plants will utilise the waste products removed during the wc? Thank you in advance.

When my tank was planted, I did not vaccuum as the plants will use the waste and you dont want to disturb the plants rooting.. ..if you do vaccuum due to bad water perameters, just do a light skimming disturbing only the top 1/4" of the gravel and the areas that are not planted.

Agree w/ above. You wanna save all that's in the sand or grvael to nourish the plants.
