i have a 2in congo puffer and i was wondering if he should be able to eat snails i gave him a small one and he cant eat it. its like he doesnt have a beak can some one help me? is this normal?
and also im trying to get him off of feeders and he doesn't like krill and rarely eats bloofworms what can i try? thanks for the reply ahead of time:)

are you giving him frozen on live bloodworms?

frozen

well you can try uncooked shrimp from the market just cut off a small peice,, or crush the snail so the meat is showing.... he will pic thro the shell and what not

Congos seem not to be interested in eating snails.

^ Agree with PP about the snails, mine has NEVER touched one in the time i've owned mine...

As for food alternatives... (DE-FROSTED) Raw Mussels, Scallops, Market Shrimp all worked for me... if you have problems getting him to eat, then try getting a piece of RAW GARLIC, crush it up and rub the food around in it for a bit, then with a little patience your congo should eventually start eating the new foods...

thanks to all i tried frozen again and he ate some of it but alot of it gets left on the sand is there a way to feed him bloodworms without having to change the water after every feeding

my juvi congo ate snails ... I got it about 1 inch and grew it out on baby crays, snails, guppy fry and gammarus shrimp.

have you tried California black worms? drop a few in the tank by it at a time. red wrigglers is another option, but eventually you will need to get it on dead foods
