Very much south..
I am about to receive a couple of those fish. I am aware that these species benefits from some salt in the water.

Are they tottally brackish ( as in 1.012 salinity ) or would just a handfull dose of salt be enough?

Any ideas on the salinity for these critters?

As to tank set - up my idea is to create the same environment I have in my Thalassophryne Amazonica tank, ie, a deep sand bed.

Any info is appreciated.:)

Thank you again, Wayne!! Much obliged, Sir!!

The URL is invalid!!??

Another one?

totally brackish, although they will survive in FW.
they just become much more sucseptable to disease and live shorter lives.

Mine has been in total fresh for a few years now. Still going strong. Good luck with yours, they are a neat fish, albeit a little innactive. Mine has had fine gravel and sand as substrates, it didn't seem to have a preference and seemed happy enough in either. At the moment he has black gravel and some very large java ferns as hiding places and decor.

Whay is the suitable PH and hardness for these guys?

I have mine in brackish ph is 8.0 salinity is 1.010. dkh is 10.5 to 11. Mine is 2 years old and about 4 inches. They remind me of the evil gremlins .I called mine oscar the grouch .I hand feed him krill with a straw and he is quick to chew out the other fish if they enter his domain:naughty:. The funny thing is you can hear it out side of the tank sounds weird.
