Does anyone know anything about toadfish and just how venomous they are? I found one which I will soon be picking up. I have read stonefish are the most venomous and I just wanted to know where toadfish fit in.

I have had bad luck with butterfly gobies they just seemed not to eat bloodworms which I feed the feeder guppies that my albino moray loves. From what little research I have found toadfish will eat ghost shrimp which is the other live foods I feed my eel. I may add another goby and would like to know if the toadfish would cause any problems for one half its size?

There are many species of fish with the common name "toadfish". Members of the SW genus of Thalassophryne harbor venom akin to a wasp sting. Upon envenomation, submerge the wounded area in water almost intolerably hot. The heated water will begin breaking down the protein strands within the venom.
Need a generic name and/or pic of the fish to accurately provide info on its venom.

I had 4 oyster toadfish. Not sure if they're poisonous or not. Never had any problems with them. If they were poisonous I never knew it. lol

Some bad news. When I went to pick him up after being told he came in he had since been put in quarantine so I left him to be picked up when he got better but he did not make it. It was an oyster toadfish.

I saw an orange scorpionfish and an orange toadfish in another LFS that were marine specimens which is too bad because I would have bought both had they been able to live in brackish water.
