Anyone ever kept (Batrachomoeus trispinosus) the common toadfish or stonefish with tankmates before? Im assuming if they are big enough they should be fine, and from what I have researched, these toadfish seem a bit lazy and arent territorial. Is this true?

other than what you mentioned, also stay away from tankmates that will nip oer pick at it, like most cichlids

It's not an actual stonefish, but a toadfish, so their venom isn't that bad. A bigger problem is finding brackish water tankmates, as they don't do well for long in feshwater.

toadfish do better in salinities closer to full saltwater. you can keep anything with them that won't fit in their mouths. give them rocks and stuff to hide in also. I have a couple in with some snappers and grunts, and they seem to do fine. you might have to make sure they actually get some food though.

the snappers don't nip at the toadfish? my understanding was that most get aggressive.

I'm not sure if it was wise, but I've seen toadfish in with "freshwater" morays

shouldn't be able to eat each other, so I would think as long as there are enough hidey holes, and marine conditions, they can coexist
