I am really enjoying having this fish. The colors are simply beautiful. Here's the breeding male.

One of four Synspilum in the 300 gallon tank with the Gourami. If you have followed my posts you might remember the Synspilum in a previous photo. He was pretty beat up. They all seem to have spruce up a bit.

The other male. There are two in the tank.

Synspilum on the half shell. I caught this big guy getting out of the breeding area the only way he could...sideways.

As usual, incredible pictures, especially that last one.

What is the fish featured at the top of your post? I dont recall seeing them before.

Paratheraps Breidohri. They endemic to Presa de la Angostura, Chiapas, Mexico. It's a relatively new species discovered about twenty years ago. (described in 1987 along with C. Gramodes) Some people think it's a variant of P. Hartwegi (also recently described in 1980).
