I know I posted this years ago, but here's one of the wild specimens of the fish. The actual collection locale of this fish. Rio Cholteca. This is also the same place that we collected Anaplebs Dowi...one of the rarer Anaplebs species (the four eyed-fish)
If you visit the Shedd aquarium and look at the natural habitat exhibit (not sure the exact location of the aquarium) and look at the A. Dowii, chances are very good it's one that I might have actually caught.
This guy was actually laying low in...of all places...a submerged tire. We pulled up the tire and he was in the tread. Ken Davis attempted to bring him home...but unfortunately he didn't make it. Gives you an idea of the color in the wild. No flash for the photo.
I also have some photos I took of the actual collection locale in Rio Cholteca. They are posted in the "Today" section of my forum along with some others of the F0 male that I have...and a few other fish.
