The larger P. Sp. "coatzacoalcos" are breeding again. I am constantly amazed at not only the dramatic color shift, but also how quickly it happens.

He spent a lot of time arranging the plants (silk) around the mouth of a ceramic cave.

The female had eggs in the cave. Unfortunately the males "attention" proved to be a little too much. She was getting beaten up...so I separated the pair hoping she would return to the cave.

And one thing that never changes color is the beautifully colored dorsal fin.

I have noticed that all the fish I keep will change colors/patterns in a matter of seconds as well, it seems usually due to mood, breeding and stress. It does happen quick, also even when it is due to breeding it is dramatic and neat. This species colors are interesting and I'm sure unique to see in person. So why the color change from what you have seen?
