That's the challenge with fish shows: getting fish to calm down and show off in bare, too-small tanks with lots of people walking by and shining lights on them.

The best fish showers raise their fish in those conditions so it's just another day in the life!

Love the lyonsi. Looks a bit washed out though. I bet when he's at ease that red/orange is amazing.

It depends on the type fish. Naturally bold and outgoing CAs show well. I have seen them bang on the glass and fight with next tank neighbor. African cichlids don't show well, and tend to lose color and hide at the corner.

Ron Georgione used to practice moving his big fish...bagging them and taking them for rides I guess. Whenever you move a fish that size..or any fish, you stand a chance of harming it.

I'd have to disagree on that. Some of the African fish I photo'd there and other shows were spectacular. Check out the photos. I do think that dark brown or dark blue...even black just don't show well at all.

This Lyonsi is not even 1 year old, I got him in Dec 2012, he was about 3",right now, he is about 8-9". he is a young fish, I just want try showing him , he did very good at ACA , I was pleased with him.
Thank you for Mojo's nice pic.

There is no tank top light so dark color fish don't show well. The judges have to carry flash light to view the fish.
