We had some bad weather that knocked out power to the house for a day and a half. Lost a lot of my fry and IMG_5574.jpg

IMG_5575.jpg smaller fish and I lost a couple fish I've had for over a decade. One of them a favorite Miidas. I pulled him out and JUST as i was ready to curse mother nature and the power company...I saw that his death was his OWN fault. Shouldn't bite off more than you can chew...or in this case, swallow.

Are you sure he died from choking alone or in combination with low O2. I had fish that had choked for several days but could still breath with difficulty in small opening. Ultimately it recovered after the stuck fish decayed in its mouth.

That stinks. I've seen videos of dead large mouth mass with another bass in it's mouth almost as large as it was. Never under estimate what they will try to eat.

Sorry to see this. Looks like a very nice midas. What fish did he choke on?
Unrelated, but did your xanthic trimac fry survive?

Another tragedy survivor...Labidochromis. I had a colony in a 100 gallon tank...that started leaking at the seam. The only place where they could get some cover was in the big tank. I tossed them in their and they were doing fine.

And unfortunately three quarter of the tank with the trimac fry didn't make it...along with all of my guppies, Neet fry and some of my large metynsis. The good news is that the pair has fry again....and I'm not sure if the fry that were xanthic are gone. They've been undercover. I tried like hell before to get them out to their own tank....but every time I put the net in the water, they scattered. So was just going to grow them out there.

The whole damn thing is a tragedy. But I'm lucky it was limited to only SOME of the fish. Generator being installed next week.
