I am ever so slowly moving toward smaller cichlids. I still love my tankbusting A-hole CA cichlid....but there's a lot to be said for keeping smaller cichlids in bigger tanks. This is a very nice SA cichlid that, quite honestly, has never done well in my NE Pennsylvania hard-as-nails water. I have a dozen of them in with a couple small pleco and so far...knock on wood...doing fine.

Very nice. Ive seen some beautiful setups with these.

All of my smaller tanks are 100 gallon. They are in one of those.
Haha awesome. These will probably be the next fish I purchase. After seeing how much room my little convict has a 48x18 tank I want to make the fish to tank size ratio even larger by putting some Rams(or other dwarf species) in a 6'x18" tank.

I have a German blue ram that was all alone in a 125 with some tetras, then one day I brought home 4 red head tapajos geos. Funniest thing happened! He thought he was one of them! He never leaves their side, chases them around, and pics sand off the bottom when they do. I guess that's y the genus is mikrogeophagus, so they are close to geos

This is a beautiful cichlid that I have owned on numerous occasions. Unfortunately, I have not had long term success due to the hardness of my water. I'd love to keep them again. Good luck with this batch.
