When you consider the adult size of this fish, you can appreciate the miracle of how small they start. The vast majority of a spawn in the wild is likely to be dwindled down to a couple...survival of the fittest. I let some of each spawn in with the Managuense...resulting in fry of various sizes. Not only is it interesting to watch the natural parenting behavior of the adults...but also how successive generations continue to predate on the newer. Sort of a poor man's way of making sure the fry you end up keeping are the strongest of the various broods.

I just thought the photo was cool the way it illustrated the size difference. The close up is of fry have been swimming for three days.

Magazine grade photos...as expected.

Great pics as always, it would be nice if you posted on here a little more often. Even just the pics, great photo skills and great fish. I always liked the up close photos of the fry, pretty neat going from that to large mature fish. Even though I have grown most of my fish from that size it's hard to see much detail with the human eye.

How old is that pair these days, if that is the same pair you used to post not to long ago. Do always keep them together, they look so good for Parachromis that beat each other to death as a pair.
