I was moving my trio of dwarf bumblebee catfish out of their tank for a big water change, and I closed one of them in my hand and a pectoral spine went right into the meaty part on the end of my finger. Yowch! As it turns out, the name "bumblebee catfish" doesn't just refer to the yellow and black bands... they seem to pack a wallop.
I almost had to stop the water change because the pain was getting overwhelming. I did the hot water treatment for a minute or so and it stopped, but it's quite sore, and it burned like hell for about ten minutes post-sting.
Luckily the spine didn't shatter on impact, or I'd be left with a nasty souvenir in my finger.
Here's my trio, including the guilty party, plus the female paradisefish they live with.
