Todays pickups!!!

Me and my friend picked up a few new herps today. A dumerils boa , a white lined gecko and a tokay gecko.
Took a bit to get the tokay out.. the bite doesnt hurt too much( i didn't have gloves) He does not like being held... The white lined isnt too bad(likes to jump on to my monitor).. the dumeril is completely calm.

My friend manned up and didn't use the glove.. any handling tips?

cool pickups but they are usually not the best to handle. Even cresteds should be handled sparsely if at all. I think these should be more of a display pet than a handling pet. Tokays are also notorious for being mean as heck and they have a very nasty bite.

haha I hope so! And its not a crested gecko its a white striped gecko or skunk gecko. And yeah the tokay is mainly visual. I do love my dumeril. I think it was dehydrated or something because when I got it into its cage its just started drinking nonstop.

I know I was using cresties as an example since they are one of the calmer arboreal geckos. As for the dumerils, almost every animal you get from an expo will be dehydrated a bit. It is normal so I would not worry about it since it has water now.

best way to handle, or "tame" a tokay is to handle it freely, don't grab it and restrain it, that only pisses them off even more.

you'll take a few bites and blood may be drawn..but tame tokays are awesome.
