I was given a tokey gecko a while ago. He is in a 30 gallon aqurium (sp?) w/ coconut bedding he has cover (and live plants that are having a devil of a time getting started). He does have a low powered heat pad that is attached to the bottom of the aquarium. He has a source of fresh water and I mist the aquarium daily and cover it w/ a towel at night.
My question is, am I doing enough for him. He will not eat anything except crickets. And dosn't move around much. I welcome any suggestions and / or advice. Thank you

Being a nocturnal species you may not see too much day time activity. Try putting a red light near his tank at night and seeing if he moves around. If he has good weight he should be doing fine. Pretty much anything small enough for him to over power if game as food, including small pinky and fuzzy mice.

Yep, mine like small frogs, ground beetles, and especially moths, except when eating they don't move much. They don't need much cover but do like crawling around on a branch in the tank. Easy to care for (I use reptical to dust the crickets).
If you want to see them jump around a bit catch a couple live, large moths and toss them in, mine will go the length of the tank in 2 bounces for a moth.

Haha I would love to see a lizard go after a moth.

ive been wanting to try that but was afraid of them getting sick, im glad to hear it can be done successfully lol

i heard they have decent sized teeth that hurt like Heck when u get bit. so watch out there. btw they are known for being agressive. i would try to feed him a wide variety of foods so that he gets as much nutrition as possible to make him healthier. before i had fish i had reptiles so if anyone needs help with reptile questions i should be able to help you out right away or if not i wanna know myself and i will help you find the information.

Mine are both 10-11" and plump. One has eaten a 5" house gecko my niece put in the tank and the other has eaten a couple gambusia mosquito fish out of it's water bowl.

I got bit by an 12 incher and yes for the record it drew blood and felt like my finger was in a set of blue and orange vice grips. The only thing i could do to avoid injuring the lizard was put my hand in the enclosure and and relax my grip on him and wait till he bolted for cover. He gave me a couple good squeezes and ran...after that i stopped removing him for cleanings and gave him a place to hide so he'd go where while i was cleaning. I used a vertical cork bark tube for him....it was a pain to get out so he would live in there and stay while i straightened his tank up. Awesome looking little beast though.

PS wait till they start callin at night its an odd memorable sound
