Tomocichla Asfraci pre-spawn pics

No extras....yet. Haha. They are a very rare cichlid. Don't see them around much any more. Fairly mellow fish. The pics dont do there coloration justice. Thanks for the props.
 
congrats friend, I still think they look oscar-ish with those orange and black colors. very nice! (in a borat accent)
are they in that tank by them selves?

dibs on the fry then :D I've been looking for these for a while. Finally somebody is breeding them! :headbang2
 
In my experience that strain that was available had some major issues. My buddies bought like 30 of them and they all died or developed weird abnormalities. I had many before this group as well and lost them to bloat. I think the bloodlines were old something that alot of other hobbyists agree with. The F1 group I had never have had any disease at all and are/were in show condition.
 
Ken, you have an oscar fetish. I have a nice F1 Peru Oscar for you. But I can see where you would get the comparison.

They share a 180 with my Micropthalmus pair and a yellow labridens. I'm thinking of separating them out though. The Micro's are close as well.
