I just wanted to share a few pics of my pair of Tomocichla Sieboldii. This is a very cool specie of fish, kind of mysterious, and mean as hell. I don't see them much and I imagine it is because most think they are kind of drab looking. From my experience the conspecific aggression is crazy. The male is just relentless and killed off one other male and female. Once they start to breed the female turns a dark blue and the male starts to show some red coloration. The female will swim to the top of the tank and the male will follow and then they will swim in a circle together back down to the bottom of the tank....pretty cool. She has dug a pit under some driftwood so I imagine there will be some spawning action soon. By the way, if you plan on keeping T. Sieboldii make sure you have bigger aggressive cichlids or else these guys will shred whatever can't defend itself.
