Hi, I have a 15 gallon tank with a tongue fish (freshwater flounder) and a discus in it. I know that the discus isn't meant for that kind of setup, I plan to get rid of it. Anyway, what should I feed the flounder? I tried live feeder shrimp, but they didn't work (They are still living happily in my tank). What should I feed it?

These FW (brackish) soles are pounce predators that feed on live foods like the shrimp you're feeding along with live bloodworms/blackworms, scuds, daphnia magna, and fish fry. As with their larger conspecifics, they'll feed more vigorously at dawn and dusk.

You're correct in that a discus makes for a poor tankmate. They soles need some salt and an alkaline environment to be successfully maintained and bred in captivity.

he prob isnt eating bc he is not set up as brackish.
add some salt to the tank and wait a day or 2. but add salt slowly. and then try n feed him really small ghost shrimp

Ok tomorrow I'm getting rid of him

The tonguefish just ate bloodworms!

actually, tonguefish are fresh water. it is north american solefish that's brackish. but, frozen bloodworms are good. just dont add any active tankmates, otherwise your tonguefish will starve

Thats why my discus has got to go. He's a bit on the active side.....
