i have a 7" jar in my 4' tank.. i just recently tossed a common pleco in there..in less than 2 days the pleco gives off alot of crap, and the tanks bottom is so dirty, take a look at the picture..

asyd from sticking my hand in the tank and using a syphon, is there any other way to remove this dirt?

is my pump weak? im using a jebo 5 in 1 overhead filter (1600L/HR)

thanks bros!!

Ah you didn't know plecos are messy fish? please dont tell me you are one of those people who think plecos eat other fishes ****?

you can do what I do, invest in a length of pvc piping and hook it up to a 2 inch silicone/plastic hose like a python or something and then just use the PVC pipe to suck up all the crap.

or, get a canister filter and make the intake reach the bottom, I did that for about 4 days and it just gets clogged easy.

Just put a nice powerhead in there. It won't clog the filtration fast either because as the poo is flying around it will break into smaller peices and no more poopy on the bottom. Plecos are the biggest poop machines kept in Aquaria. They must poop their body weight a day no lie.

yeah i know they are a messy fish, but i ddnt know this alot of crap in 2 days time, i used to have placo 6 years ago... can u elaborate more on ur pvc pipe thing? do u have sum pix bro?

ok, so u mean i have to open that other half of my submersible pump to create blowoff in the tank? wouldnt this reduce the efficience of the pump to half?

I dont keep plecos because of this. But when i had a bare bottom tank it would sometimes look like that. What i did was i got a fish net with very tiny holes, one that only let water pass though it really. it had a long handle on it, so i would just scoop it out, then rince the net under the tap. never needed to siphon it out or get my hands wet at all.

simple fix....and probably dirt cheap in the phil's for pumps

replace your powerhead with a regular submersible pump - and run that instead

powerhead powered ohf's don't generate the kind of bottom suction you need because of their design...

if that isn't enough, stick that powerhead back in on the opposite side of the tank from your new submersible pump .... no more poop guaranteed

Just aim the water cyurrent on the bottom and the poo will be suspended in the air. It will then get sucked into the filter.

How big is the tank? A 4ft could be anything from 30G's to 200G's.
