I have a 55 outside that did have goldfish in it but as the temperature stayed in the 100's everyday the goldfish started suffering, so they were removed.

The other thing I noticed was the tank had so much algae on the glass, it was hard to see in, but just before the goldfish started tanking(excuse the pun) the algae died off and the tank was spotless.

So, algae is sensitive to high temps? I thought it would survive that. I also have a blue tub that has algae in (2 feet away) and it's doing fine.

Oh and it's under a porch that only gets sunlight in the morning.

we have facilities out here in arizona that grow algae for energy and its almost always over 100 degrees over here so i dont think high temps kills it off, actually makes it bloom. If im not mistaken i think it need some type of waste in order to bloom, hence the algae had no food after the goldfish were removed.

Sorry if I wasn't clear but the algae disappeared before I removed the goldfish, I thinking somehow that's why the goldfish started to suffer.

I suppose to close out my own thread, Temperature dropped below 100 earlier this week and now suddenly the tank (which is still running without fish) is breaking out with algae. The water is green and algae is growing on objects in the tank again.
