Ok when I started my tank I dis not even think about breeding fish I have kept cichlid before nothing on the size I have now, biggest one before was only a 180 gallon but I never had a problem with the baby's. Usually if you don't spit the female the baby's will get eaten maybe one or 2 Survive for a little longer what chances are they don't make it. Well not in this tank, i know some are getting eaten just not enough. I have more baby's then I know of what to do with. They are all over the tank in all the rocks and just out and about. This is the first tank where I have seen fish between 3/4 of an inch and up swimming right by much bigger fish and the bigger fish could careless about them. I have an Oscar in a 55 gallon that would eat anything that moves but no one in this tank is that aggressive. Out of 200 adult fish you would think I would have some hunters lol. But it is going to get to the point where I have to many fish in this tank and I don't know how to control the population except trying to catch all the females. Which would be just about impossible I can't catch anyone in this tank without a trap.
At any given time I have 5 or more pregnant females in the tank usually more. If you thing about it, if only one fish survived out of ever batch I would gain at least 5 fish every 2 weeks but I think it is closer to about 5-7 fish a week I can't catch the baby's as they are to small I could catch some adults but i would not want to get rid of the adults anyway. And no one wants the baby's because they are hybrids. I personally like hybrids more because some of them can have crazy colors. I have this one hybrid that breed with a rusty cichlid and it's color is just amazing it is a blue brown that just pops under the right light and angel

I have a 600 gallon tank 96 x 48 x 30 and about 1100 gallons of total water volume but I probably have over 250 fish but I think that maybe a underestimate because I have bought over 190 fish and they have been breding for about a year now.
I do not have nutrient problems I just want to head it off before the fish don't have any room to swim lol
Dose anyone have any suggestions to help?
