I'm new to the hobby but was instantly hooked upgraded my 20g to a 55 within 8 months when I move within the next 2 years I'm upgrading to a 125 but until then, will my friends be okay? EVERYONE is a juvenile my setup and family include..

55 gallon (long) tank, a 120V 60Hz heater, a Penguin Power Filter 350B, under gravel filter, three angel fish, green phantom pleco, tire track eel, lesser spotted eel, peacock eel, two Leopard ctenopoma, Geophagus jurupari, pearl, opaline, and gold gourami, Polypterus delhezi, two bala sharks, blue ram, elephant nose, african butterfly, albino clawed frog, and a hillside loach.

/\ agreed
and i would get rid of the frog soon thay get huge and will eat all the smaller fish.

Very over stocked and alot of those fish need to be separated into there own tanks with different conditions.

Your going to need to do a lot of research on the fish you have and decide which ones to keep, and which to sell or buy a new tank for... the tire track eel alone is going to be too big for your 125G in the future...

Agreed.

In reality your stock is not that bad. It is overstocked but its manageable. Just keep up on your water changes. The only ones that may be problems in the future is the eel, the frog, and the balas, and maybe the delhezi. But they will be fine in a 55 gallon for a few months. I would suggest perhaps looking on craigslist for a cheap used 125 gallon or bigger because they will eventually need the bigger tank. Plus if you find a big tank now than it will save you the trouble of finding one when you desperately need it.

okay, I knew I have to get rid of the frog I'm already working on that and I've read bala's are (debatably) not fish for the aquarium because of how big they get and how active they can be so I will definitely part with them. IF I got rid of the tire track would it be okay to have a fire eel?

-or what size tank do you recommend upgrading too? Keep in mind I'll be moving into an apartment so there is definitely a "too big".

I would like to keep the tire track as long as I could and just sell him as he outgrows the others.

I also am getting rid of the ram as while the others grow he looks tastier and tastier.

As for parting with my delhezi (Moo-shoe), Isn't gunna happen I love love love love love him.

the ram is doomed they max at 2 inches and become perfect food for the eels and bala sharks. The issue I would take with your tank is that the eels and bala sharks might get stunted in that tank over the next 2 years. I would typically say be conservative on feeding but that may not be enough and with predatory fish that just causes more aggression in the tank and all of a sudden you'll wonder where your fish are going? At any rate i can say your eels will not do so well in that tank and the balas get almost 12 inches so they won't be able to turn around in your tank.
