:nilly:
I dont know if my water has mojo in it or what but i have heavy breeding in my 125 gallon Geophagus tank.

Water Parameters
125 gallon
79 Degrees F
7.2 PH
plenty of live Java Fern and some other broad leaf plant (the name escapes me)
Fine gravel bed
Large river stones and drift wood
Ehiem Classic filtration with UV serilizer attached

Breeding Pairs

synodontis petricola: dwarf catfish( i have a school of 6 of these lil guys and they breed from time to time)

Red Shoulder Sevrum (VERY beautiful Male and female, whom breed about once a month)

Honduran Red Point (they are only about 2 inches long and breed about once every other month)

Neon Blue Geophagus (pretty lil fish)

The fry never last that long, but they all come quite frequently. None of the fish get overly protective but will not let anyone near thier territory when they have eggs/wiggles/fry. I am assuming that the parents are eating thier young OR my pleco/yoyo loach (whom are always pleasantly plump) are picking them off.

I am sick of this happening

I have just ordered a Eclipse corner 5 gallon for a nursery and I have a few questions...

How should i set this guy up? Thin layer of gravel, some of the big tanks water, plenty of plants and hiddies or just bare?

Can i keep multiple fry type at once in a nursery?

do i need extra bubblers?

Any other suggestions from the pros lol?

update:

okay after research, of which everything seems contradictory towards each other, i think i have a solution.

I have my 5 gallon eclipse set up with plant bedding and plenty of fresh plants, i even used a bit of the bottom most substrate from by big tank to give the small tank a boost in bacteria. The tank is running now with a small bubbler (noisy lil baster but the only small one i could find) and a small heater.

Test #1

I took the eggs of my red head/shoulder severum out of the tank on 12/26/08. By the next morning they have successfuly produced a good number of wigglers (not even going to try to count)

12/29/08 Some of the wigglers are "bouncing" and trying to free swim. they sill have a yolk sak but it is very small at this stage. I tried feeding them some crushed flakes and a shake of brine and some actually made an effort to boucne to the food and eat it (seemingly).

Every day i have been scooping out some of the 5 gallons water and "changing" it with water from my large tank.
The small tank has been treated with fungiside (just in case)
So far all the lil guys seem to be alive and well and i am trying to not distrub them one bit.

The best way to learn is to do lol

this thread is worthless with out pictures. OK, maybe not worthless. Around $0.03 cents.

post em up! :headbang2
LMAO, i got some cell pictures, but that would be equally as worthless

I will get some tonight with my wife's camera

from my experience multiple fry can be kept together, ive raised out about 5 different types of fry together.
