it seems the batch of salousi i got is 7m/1f. not sure fish are 1"to1"-1/4. 7 of them seem to have some darkness on dorsal or pec fins and some light bars. what should i do? my intent was breeding. they dont seem to have to much agression to female yet. also its a54 gl corner tank with loads of rock.

Are they showing aggression towards each other, 1" is kind of small to sex them. Females will take on male colorations sometimes, and vice versa. If its not world war 3 i would wait it out a little more.

the largest most colored of the group def rules the tank. the rest posture and bicker but no big deal. im new to africans, but have kept fish for 30 yrs. any other time i tried to breed it was get a pair to form and all others were removed. its my understanding that dosent work with africans. 3f to 1m idealy right? i think ill have to just wait and see. im gona keep lookin to buy more females. cant have too many i guess.

Just because they bicker does not mean they are all male. Mbuna are nasty mean even females can be really aggressive. The only way to know for sure is to vent them and they are way too small for that. I would wait it out. You most likely have more that 1 female. Once they are larger you'll have a better idea.
You're right about mbuna not forming pairs. With breeding them the more females the better. It will keep the male very busy. And you'll have lots of babies.

I have come to find salousi male heavy. You will end up with too many males and just as you pull out a male, a new one will show himself. I would get more of find out where to get more.
