So I really like how the airstones look and the bubbles, especially the long ones, plus it's good for the fish. So I was thinking:nilly:.......what about having a 125 where the whole back of the tank had airstones(say six 12 inch strip airstones or maybe just a long one, but still a strip version). It would be pushed against the back as far as possible so it wouldn't block the view of the fish. I would need hell of a air pump I would think, or have a few decent sized ones.

The 125 will have 12 senegal bichirs if that even matters. Would this be bad for the fish in anyway, too much oxygen, bother them too much. The 1 senegal I have now doesn't mind the small ball airstone in it's tank. I know alot of people hate airstones, but I love them, all of my tank have at least a small ball shaped one. Maybe even go all around the tank besides the front of course. Is this plausible MFK?

Haha maybe 3 12 inch ones? :)
But they do look beautiful, only bad thing is when they come out from under the gravel and float to the top :irked: :nilly:

I know!! I bought a new fancy looking one and put it in the tank and it floated, seriously Elite, WTF, lol. I had to put the heavier airstone on it to keep it in place until I think of an idea.

I would forsee a few complications such as keeping it in place, keeping air pressure even in each (different bubbling rates may make it look odd), etc... but no it won't be bad for your fish in any way...

The current it will provide will likely prevent waste from building up in/around decor in the rear of the tank...

I may be totally incorrect but I vaguely remember reading about a connection between popeye and unusually high oxygen levels. Any one else hear of this? Either way, I doubt that air strips would cause this.

Air pressure and oversaturation of oxygen can cause exophthalmus and gas bubble disease (not even a disease but one of the leading problems by environmental conditions) but this is one of the few causes. Fluid buildup is another cause and this can be covered in another thread if someone does ask for a question related to this.;)

I run quite a bit of air on all my tanks I am curious why it would cause problems but now im more intrigued if I can see an article or some supporting evidence about it. I run a lot of air to help the bio and water movement.
