Please MODS don't delete this, I posted in the setup forum part of MFK too, but since Bichir fans might know something unique to them, it makes sense to post here also, just don't want to kill my bichirs.:(:(

So I really like how the airstones look and the bubbles, especially the long ones, plus it's good for the fish. So I was thinking:nilly:.......what about having a 125 where the whole back of the tank had airstones(say six 12 inch strip airstones or maybe just a long one, but still a strip version). It would be pushed against the back as far as possible so it wouldn't block the view of the fish. I would need hell of a air pump I would think, or have a few decent sized ones.

The 125 will have 12 senegal bichirs if that even matters. Would this be bad for the fish in anyway, too much oxygen, bother them too much. The 1 senegal I have now doesn't mind the small ball airstone in it's tank. I know alot of people hate airstones, but I love them, all of my tank have at least a small ball shaped one. Maybe even go all around the tank besides the front of course. Is this plausible MFK?

shouldnt have any issues other than evaporation and maybe some temp issues if it gets hot durring the day/cold at night...

if you are worried about over oxygenating the water... dont... if you were using pressurized pure oxygen and a co2 (planted tank style dosing system) then it "might" be an issue... but as long as you are not "boiling" the water.. dont worry about it...

you'll be fine-Anne

bubblers really don't add measurable amounts of dissolved O2 into the water colum. They create movement and break surface tension at the surface to help in gas exchange
