This gets asked about every other week, so I think it counts as a FAQ.

the answer: unless you create too much current (aka whirlpool) there is no limit to the amount of filtration you can have. You are just wasting space, electricity, and money after a while though.

I agree this is a much needed thread. :D

What is the Industry standard for turn over per hour,
and the amount of Bio-media needed for a seriously overstocked tank of Monsters?
This is the question...because you can always diffuse waterflow to make no current...

i have an 3 m tank with an 2.5 m filtration tank . and i have a 6500l an hour blower in de tank . we al forget the wa are dealing with fish , so current is no prob as long it isn't a wirlpool .

and just a matter of how much do want to clean your filters once you have the good filtration for your fish

greetings

I still have a question though... bare with me I am totally new to this whole tank thing but am really really eager to learn and am really loving the world of fish!

I right now have a 100x40x40 tank which I am planning to upgrade in a couple of weeks to a 200x50x60 (roughly) sized tank. Now, currently I have a tetratec I think either the 700 or the 1200 (will need to check, the tank was a gift off a friend). And was wondering if I can put that into my new tank or should I get a second filter to go with this one?
