I just recently fell upon good fortune of being given a new Marineland C-360 canister filter. I am thinking of adding it to my setup but hesitated as I asked my self can it be possible to have too much filtration? My current setup in 180 gallon with two Marineland C-360 and one Rena XP2, and one in tank UV filter that has a sponge on it. Would it be a bad thing to add the third Marineland C-360?
My tank is stocked with 6 Angels, 8 bleeding hearts, 2 Siamese Algae eaters, one Gibbiceps Pleco.

Thanks for your input!

Monster Keepers can never have to much Filteration! What are we waiting for... hook it up:headbang2

ok I admit the question is dumb, but I just had visions of my fish swimming in a whirlpool because of the added current. Ill be adding my new filter in tonight!

It's not a dumb question. Yes over-filtration can be a BAD thing IF you don't do scheduled maintenance on your filters (canister, hob, etc.). After some time (depending on bio-load), these filters can and will become "nitrate" factories. So just keep that in mind. :)

Good point. you can't wait 3x as long to do your maintenance just because you have 3x the filtration that you would get with one canister.

hehe so a 39 gal pro flex sump with a 900gph blueline pump is going to make my tank look like a toilet bowl.
